A Marble Run Computer submitted by Meginator on August 1, 2022, 3:52pm This analog computer has a fairly steep learning curve, but it is a very useful tool for understanding how computers of all kinds manage complex mathematical operations to produce consistently accurate results. Using a series of manually operated switches, the computer can run a variety of tasks and export the results in binary code; it even has an automatic mode for running a continuous stream of operations. Even with my very limited understanding of computing, I found this to be a fascinating and fun tool and a useful visual aid for peeking under the hood of the devices I use every day- and that was without even attempting to comprehend anything more complicated than multiplication.
