Read by the Sue Klebold.
On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold walked into Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Over the course of minutes, they would kill twelve students and a teacher and wound twenty-four others before taking their own lives. For the last sixteen years, Sue Klebold, Dylan's mother, has lived with the indescribable grief and shame of that day. How could her child, the promising young man she had loved and raised, be responsible for such horror? And how, as his mother, had she not known something was wrong? Were there subtle signs she had missed? What, if anything, could she have done differently?

A kick in the stomach... submitted by darla on July 21, 2016, 4:29pm Listening to Sue Klebold narrate this horrific account of her son's role in Columbine was like a kick in the stomach. Her writing is not incredible, and often repetitive, but she does well at sharing her side of the story. This book is not about the victims, or really the shooting itself, but a story of a mother's love for her son. If you are looking for a detailed description of the events at Columbine, this is not the book for you. It will answer some questions, but also leave you with many, many more. As a parent, many parts of this book were incredibly difficult to listen to, and I found myself wondering how she can still function after all she has experienced. Her description of the grieving process is candid, and heartbreaking, and will resonate with readers experiencing tragedies of their own.
