COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Good submitted by cinderellariley on June 17, 2016, 2:31pm Not what I was expecting. But pretty good anyway.

Just Okay submitted by LibraryLo on July 2, 2016, 8:13am This movie was okay, but it was hard to get through at times. The language was a bit difficult to understand, which is to be expected, and the plot is a bit slow. I wished that it had ended differently, but it was still interesting to see the story of witches in New England in a new light.

Surprising submitted by easmith on July 2, 2016, 8:29am I am generally not a fan of the horror genre, but this was a great film. Very interesting approach to a puritan folk tale, alternating between paranoia and the supernatural. The ending was shocking and unexpected!

Good if you like both Horror and Historical Fiction submitted by wiykat07 on July 1, 2018, 7:18pm Are you hating the fact that hollywood seems to lack the concept of authenticity or only gives it minor lip service? Then watch this, it is a psychological horror that keeps you guessing, A family drama that makes you wonder what the hell is really going on beneath the surface arguments, and the set is so authentic, they had to hire special workers who knew how to do the old techniques of house building for Puritan New England. Also watch the special features if you are a huge Salem History nut like I am, you will appreciate the authenticity way more by how the historians talk about trying to find fault with it, but being unable to.

Do you want to live deliciously? submitted by MH17 on August 6, 2018, 9:25pm Brilliant, atmospheric, creepy and flat out scary, The Witch is a must-see for horror fans. It's not your average jump in your seat film, but rather a movie that slowly builds its tension and mystery for a truly terrifying third act. The child actors are remarkable, up and down the line, but those twins, oh those twins. Do not take your eyes off Black Phillip and be prepared for anything out there in the Puritan-era New England.

A bit much submitted by lstorc on August 27, 2018, 10:12am The characters were well defined, but the pacing was long, the story predictable, and quite a bit of it was unnecessary.
