COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Flying in the shades of grey submitted by Spectacular Reference-Man on August 30, 2013, 2:50pm One of the major points of this movie is the motivation of each of the characters, who, in their minds, are all doing what they believe to be "right." Moral ambiguity abounds as a tortured man tries to get revenge against the Starfleet that hurt him. Kirk must fight his impulses to follow the rules of Starfleet, and then question his loyalties.
It's an emotional thrill ride that makes for an excellent sequel to this new Star Trek franchise. There are some cheesy moments, and not all of the characters are as developed as they should have been, so be warned. The flaws stand out more in reflection of the film, but are barely noticeable when you are wrapped up in this new Star Trek timeline.

Into Darkness submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on June 15, 2014, 3:37pm This second of the latest Star Trek series, a remake of the original series, features action and amazing special effects using technology not available in the 1960s and '70s. The film is still an interesting take on the original "Wrath of Khan" movie, including a twist on the cry "Khan!" Its plot twists came as surprises.

Despite the 2013 release, this film nonetheless fails the Bechdel test (if a film has two female characters speaking to each other but not about a man). "Into Darkness" has only two main female characters, one of whom is more interested in her boyfriend than the crew's mission. There are two scenes that include shirtless women, demonstrating what value women have in this society.

The movie features Benedict Cumberbatch (of "Sherlock") as Khan, Zachary Quinto (of "Heroes") as Spock and Karl Urban (of "Almost Human") as Bones. "Doctor Who" fans will also recognize Noel Clarke, who played Mickey in the British show, playing a pivotal role in this movie.

Into Darkness submitted by SBNB on July 29, 2014, 9:31pm I really enjoyed this movie. I found the moral dilemmas it to be particularly relevant to our current world.

Fun submitted by cowmooflage on August 19, 2014, 1:23am Movie is a little long but doesn't feel like it. The story and visual effects really take you away

Great Star Trek movie! submitted by Xris on August 29, 2018, 7:48am What's not to love?! So many great actors, and revisiting the realm of Star Trek. <3

Into Darkness submitted by tbbrown76 on July 19, 2019, 7:13pm They take so many liberties with Star Trek, sci Fi and physics that it is a bit uncomfortable. But, I still like it. Lots of action.
