On Thursday, January 15th, 2009, the world witnessed the "Miracle on the Hudson" when Captain, Chesley Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

In order to turn the six-minute flight and the 24-minute swift rescue into a 96-minute extravaganza, the filmmakers invented an antagonist in the form of National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigators who try hard to blame Sullenberger for the mishap. The NTSB, like most accident investigators, aims to prevent future accidents. It never seeks to assign blame or makes the pilots justify their actions.

Terrific story submitted by ramcgarty on July 16, 2020, 8:54am I found flashbacks helpful in portraying what Sully was experiencing during this incredible drama. It was not just the landing on the Hudson but the investigation into the crash. I could watch this several times over and find it fascinating to see the reactions of the various players in this film.
