A chronological journey that highlights the genre’s pivotal turning points, its various branches, and its most prominent musicians, this compilation traces the history of the genre while hinting at its future; even if some of the later tracks are (probably deliberately) off-putting, everyone who enjoys music will find something to love here and the extensive liner notes provide historical and musical context for each and every track.
