Sam Childers is a drug-dealing criminal who undergoes an astonishing spiritual transformation and makes a life-changing decision to travel to war-torn East Africa. Sort of Interesting submitted by crazypockets on June 16, 2013, 1:02pm I checked this out because parts of it were filmed in Michigan (Melvindale, specifically). I thought the beginning took a long time to get going, and I almost gave up on it in a few places. But overall I thought it was an interesting character piece and gave some good context for the conflicts going on in East Africa. I'm not sure I understand how using violence relates to being a Christian minister, but it was a biography of the man's life, not a social commentary, I guess.
