Seth Brundle is a brilliant but eccentric scientist who attempts to woo investigative journalist Veronica Quaife by offering her a scoop on his latest research in the field of matter transportation, which against all the expectations of the scientific establishment have proved successful. Up to a point. Brundle thinks he has ironed out the last problem when he successfully transports a living creature, but when he attempts to teleport himself a fly enters one of the transmission booths, and Brundle finds he is a changed man.

Gross submitted by crazypockets on August 11, 2013, 1:29pm This is one of the most disturbing movies I've ever seen. That's not to say it's not good, it's just...really really gross. A man literally turns into a giant fly. The process of that is gooey and absolutely disgusting. The acting is really good in it, and you can't help but appreciate that dynamic Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum had going in the 80s. The absolute horror is palpable as Seth transitions, both for him at first and for Veronica as she realizes he is becoming increasingly ok with turning into a monster.... A classic of the horror/sci-fi genre.

Creepy submitted by beeniepie on August 11, 2013, 2:33pm This film created such an atmosphere of creepiness, my skin still crawls thinking about it.

The Fly submitted by hrgray on July 15, 2023, 10:43pm This movie did a really good job of building horror not through sudden scares, but through its effects and atmosphere. I think it's a fun watch overall, but with a serious caveat that it's not for the squeamish - I have a pretty strong stomach and knew what I was getting into with a Cronenberg movie, and I still nearly lost my lunch.
