"In this substantial graphic novel biography, First Second presents the larger-than-life exploits of Nobel-winning quantum physicist, adventurer, musician, world-class raconteur, and one of the greatest minds of the twentieth century: Richard Feynman. Written by nonfiction comics mainstay Jim Ottaviani and brilliantly illustrated by First Second author Leland Myrick, Feynman tells the story of the great man's life from his childhood in Long Island to his work on the Manhattan Project and the Challenger disaster. Ottaviani tackles the bad with the good, leaving the reader delighted by Feynman's exuberant life and staggered at the loss humanity suffered with his death" -- from publisher's web site.

Excellent

This is excellent. A graphic novel about the life and work of a famous (and beyond brilliant) scientist that invites the reader into both Feynman's life and his science without requiring that you be a physicist yourself.
This guy is fascinating, and once you read this, you'll think so, too.
Fascinating, cool, and quick read! submitted by eapearce on June 17, 2014, 12:35pm I have always been interested in Feynman and his work, but am not capable enough in physics to read extremely scientific pieces on his discoveries. I enjoy information on him that mixes anecdotes from his fascinating life while simultaneously introducing readers to the basics of his discoveries. (Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman is a great book, also available at AADL that does exactly this). The concept of a graphic novel on Feynman is a brilliant idea. Readers get cool visualizations of his travels and interactions, AND the scientific concepts discussed in this book are easier to follow because they are accompanied by fun diagrams. The book is well-researched and easy to read. I highly recommend this to anyone even remotely interested in Feynman's life and work, and/or in 20th century scientific discoveries in general. A great read!
Interesting submitted by Xris on June 25, 2025, 8:22am I don't understand all the science in this book, but interesting to see the background of Feynman. Good that it was in graphic novel form.
Fun quick read submitted by gybl on July 5, 2025, 12:16pm This graphic novel is a nice introduction to Richard Feynman's life and work, and makes a great visual companion to his first memoir Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman. The physics explanations were a bit dense for me to understand, even though the author does try to explain the science to a lay audience. Also want to add that the author is an Ann Arbor resident!
