Laid-Back Pop Vocals submitted by Meginator on July 22, 2019, 10:09pm This album has a very relaxed vibe that meshes perfectly with Lana Del Rey's smoky vocal delivery. I expected more memorable hooks, but the album focuses instead on creating consistent atmospheric effects; altogether, this works pretty well. The stripped-down instrumentation keeps the vocals in focus and contributes to a sound that is neither in step with nor totally removed from contemporary top-40 tracks. Overall, I considered this to be a pleasant surprise.
