Blackstar submitted by Fevvers - STAR473 on July 10, 2016, 3:34am Eerie, provoking, beautiful, menacing, dreamy, and fittingly elegiac. The title track is my favorite, haunting and creepy and alienating yet oddly catchy. But I love the whole album. Bowie continued to push boundaries and experiment right through this album, incorporating jazz and other elements that are unexpected (except one should expect the unexpected from David Bowie).
Innovative submitted by markwells on July 23, 2016, 4:54pm Most of this stuff is so other-worldly that one would think that he was part alien. Musically he has always been able to dream and write and perform outside the box without sacrificing rhythm and melody. This CD encompasses melancholy, beauty, and dreaminess; just what we've come to expect from David Bowie. We will reflect on his past innovations and miss the ones never to be realized. Grade A.
Listen to on a cloud, rainy day submitted by DBJC on June 24, 2017, 8:24am This is the kind of music that you listen to on a rainy day, when the rain drops remind you of your present demise or your past encounters with another you. Bowie is a true master of his craft as he continued to prove until is death, and this album is reaffirmation of who he always was. His ability to use new sounds to create new melodies without overwhelming his audience's ears is a true sign of musicianship.
