Set against the romantic desolation of Detroit and Tangier, an underground musician, deeply depressed by the direction of human activities, reunites with his resilient and enigmatic lover. Their love story has already endured several centuries at least, but their debauched idyll is soon disrupted by her wild and uncontrollable younger sister. Can these wise but fragile outsiders continue to survive as the modern world collapses around them?

only lovers left alive

This is one of the most pointless, nonsensical movies I've ever watched. It's one of my favorites. Also, it's set in the beautifully lonely Detroit. If you liked Dead Man, you'll love it;.
Spooky space at a distance!
A Meditation submitted by apicknell on June 14, 2015, 12:27pm A review on the cover of this DVD calls this film a meditation, and I think that it accurate. Its pace is slower than usual, its visual motifs have almost a pulse to them, and the harmonic drone music punctuating the film becomes its own character. Watch this moving without expectation and be ready to experience something new and beautiful.
Adam and Eve submitted by JulieCraig on July 9, 2016, 7:03pm Adam and Eve are vampires and drink blood. This movie might be good for Vampire fans, but I got tired of it about half way through. Tilda Swinton is good as Eve. Much of the story is set in Detroit, which adds some interest for Ann Arborites. But overall, I wouldn't recommend it.
Detroit Setting
submitted by sushai on August 24, 2018, 7:30pm
Worth seeing if only for the scenes in the abandoned Detroit train station (that is soon set for renovation) and the scenes filmed in Jack White's house.
And, of course, Tilda Swinton is always awesome.
Good movie submitted by seholmes on July 18, 2023, 8:56am I liked this movie! great sound track and a really interesting plot idea. Also features detroit which is cool!
Artsy, "local" movie submitted by huntq on July 21, 2023, 12:40pm Personally, I did not like this movie, but you might if you love artsy indie films. It is well-acted, and there are some charming shots of and dialog about Detroit and its gradual decay. The pacing is quite slow, and it does not have a driving plot, focusing more on the themes of love and despair. Wikipedia categorizes this as a comedy drama, but I think pure drama is more appropriate.
such a vibe submitted by djchrist on October 12, 2024, 1:10pm oh to be bored and beautiful and ancient and thirsty, lounging about in Detroit and Morocco
