Atypical War Film submitted by Meginator on June 17, 2018, 5:25pm This film left me nearly speechless. *This* is how you use the unique qualities of cinema to explore alternate storytelling avenues. I loved the way that Christopher Nolan played with the linked timelines and his subtle use(s) of music and sparse dialogue. The plot was a little hard to follow at times, but after a while that felt like part of the point, and by the end I was completely on board with it. The performances, effects, and sets are all of the highest quality, as expected, and the overall experience is breathtaking.

Amazing real life story but gimmicky non-linear story telling submitted by heapah on August 19, 2018, 8:18pm Movie based on an amazing and inspiring real-life story. I thought the non-linear story telling of Christopher Nolan appeared gimmicky and actually lead to confusion and removed from the power and enormity of the real underlying story. The movie was buoyed by the real-life story.

Makes you feel at the heart of the story what happened at Dunkirk in 1940. The aerial dogfights are unbelievable... the bullets whizzing past that flimsy cockpit makes you feel at the heart of it. The cinematography is fantastic. The sound design is amazing.
