Great. submitted by MadMonkeyZ on June 23, 2018, 2:58pm Here is a fresh take on young adult fantasy. With West African-inspired characters, magic, and setting, Children of Blood and Bone is non-stop action, enriched with themes that resonate in today’s social and political landscape: injustice, discrimination, and a struggle for change. Author Tomi Adeyemi’s debut novel is the start of what promises to be an epic, addictive new series.

Fantastic setting submitted by Jinxyluis on July 22, 2018, 4:15pm I'm so excited about the setting of this book. The culture and the depiction of magic were wonderful, as there is so much to unpack in the tension of people groups with and without magic as they clash with each other. The middle of this book dragged a little for me, especially with all the romantic moments that aren't in general my cup of tea, but the ending was really strong and I'll definitely be interested to read more in this series.

Wonderful submitted by purplekitty on August 7, 2018, 8:48pm This book was fantastic! Characters are written in a complex manner that allows their motivations to clear and as reasonable as can be expected. The setting is also beautifully created, drawing the reader into a fantastically crafted, timely, exciting fantasy world. There's action, but also tons of interactions between characters and character development - something that's all too frequently sacrificed in books with heavy quantities of action. Any fans of fantasy - and even beyond! - should be sure to read this wonderful book.

Blood and bone submitted by tbbrown76 on June 14, 2019, 4:05pm So, one of my students and Lat both suggested this book. It started out kind of slow and confusing. Then, it got really and very cool. I wanted another twenty chapters. Highly recommended.

Amazing submitted by c_zhang on June 28, 2019, 12:39am It started slow, but the book became very engaging. I couldn't put it down. The settings are amazing and the character development is beautiful. The ending was very strong and devastating to me.

100% worth a read submitted by sbeegees on July 2, 2019, 4:47pm I read this book on the recommendation of one of my teachers. She said it was one of her favorite books and that I would love it. I read a lot, and went into this book sceptically. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. This book was absolutely amazing, had so many twists and turns, and genuinely has become one of my favorite book! Definitely worth reading!!

Engrossing submitted by apncksr on July 17, 2019, 9:14am I did not know what to expect when I picked this book since the cover intrigued me. This was an exciting read that kept me up at nights. The characters have been developed well and the story maintained an edge of the seat thrill till the end. I will definitely recommend this book to my reader friends.

Amazing submitted by FairyWings on June 28, 2020, 12:18pm I read this for an English project. The perfect fantasy action-adventure!

Nice submitted by lianayz on July 14, 2020, 10:29am The idea of this book is great, with the fun stuff with powers, and magi. I was actually a bit disappointed towards the end because it was a bit underwhelming, and very sad. Still a great book though!

Slow and complicated submitted by steveiew on July 19, 2020, 5:45pm I was really excited about the premise of this book but it took a long time to get up and going . I also found the magic system to be overly complex and not well explained. It was vague enough that the end of the book seemed to suffer from deus ex machina.

Fantastic! submitted by mshivaprasad on July 20, 2020, 2:15pm This book takes you on journeys you never knew you wanted!

Fast paced and thrilling submitted by mchauho on July 21, 2020, 10:47am I really enjoyed this book. It had a fast pace, interesting characters and world building, lots of plot points, and strong female characters I wanted to root for.

awesome submitted by claraerosenfeld on June 3, 2023, 8:35pm I loved it
