Worth seeing once submitted by annikajoyce on June 23, 2018, 9:37am The beautiful, creative cinematography makes this remake of Agatha Christie's classic mystery novel worth the watch. For this reviewer, however, the acting failed to match that of BBC's David Suchet (but truly, could anyone compete with Suchet, who spent a majority of his life perfecting the Poirot character?). Perhaps seeing Suchet's performance of this same episode sets the bar too high, particularly concerning Poirot's moral decisions. One walks away from the 2017 film with a lurking impression that Poirot's moral compass has been somewhat watered-down. Nevertheless, certainly worth seeing once.

Perfect to Pick-up Several Years Later submitted by Natmare on July 25, 2018, 9:34am It has been several years since I last read the book and watched the 1974 version of this tale. For me, this helped contain some of the mystery for while I knew the answer to WhoDunnIt? and why, the story leading up to and following Poirot's discovery was full of twists and turns that I forgot occurred, or were different from the original story. The movie was full of great acting, some of which could be found useful for sequels if wanted...

Book > Movie submitted by ferielp on August 16, 2018, 11:55am This is one of my favorite Agatha Cristie novels, alongside 'And Then There Were None' and 'Three Blind Mice'. The fear, suspense and tone from the book just didn't translate onto the screen despite the stellar cast. I think the script could have been injected with more Cristie style.
