COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Reminiscent but Distinctive submitted by krogers on June 21, 2019, 10:23am Very polished and musically solid, but more focused on heavy rhythms than melodic leads as far as guitars go. If you still mourn the loss of Led Zeppelin songs to the world and wish there could be new LZ albums, this band is for you. Sometimes the resemblance is eerily close. That said, this album does show they have a style of their own. Let’s just call it a Zeppelin-like sensibility and leave it at that.

Convincing Led Zeppelin Tribute submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2019, 11:25pm Greta Van Fleet is clearly channeling Led Zeppelin and other iconic bands here, but they are so good at imitating this particular sound that it eventually becomes their own. From the lyrics to the crunching guitars and the wailed vocal style, this is classic rock made new again; even the song structure channels the 1970s, with lengthy instrumental passages that are uncommon in modern rock music. Despite Zeppelin clearly being the predominant musical influence here, the group also takes cues from groups like Rush, and the mixture elevates the album beyond being a mere tribute. This isn’t particularly innovative, maybe, but it is pitch-perfect, a must-have for anyone wishing to relive the glory days of guitar-first rock and roll.
