AMAZING! Blew me away! submitted by Jessica Primus on June 15, 2018, 5:51pm My friend watched this show and told me it was really good. I went into the theater thinking it was going to be one of those mehh... movies. I came out with the feeling it was one of the best shows I watched. If you don't happen to see this movie, listen to the music. It is incredible and inspiring. I loved this show and would give it 5 stars. The movie is based off P.T. Barnum and the circus. I hope you listen to it and see it. :)

Entertaining! submitted by bookworms on July 18, 2018, 11:30pm This is an uplifting musical based on the life of entertainer P.T Barnum.

During the movie, we see Barnum grow up and marry his childhood sweetheart, Charity. Together the raise a family, but Barnum wants more. Needing money, he starts a show featuring unique people around the city, At first, people hate Barnum and his "freaks", but eventually they see how amazing the performers are. After the ups and downs of his journey, Barnum must remind himself of what is most important.

The plot can be a little bumpy at times, but the music makes it a million times better! Overall, a fun movie! Very inspiring, reminding us of the beauty in everyone.

A Great Bad Film submitted by Meginator on July 27, 2018, 10:17pm This film has so much going for it, from the phenomenal soundtrack and outstanding cast to the consistently excellent production values, encompassing everything from the direction and cinematography to the sets and costumes. The Greatest Showman is a stunning production, yet it lacks coherence; all of the pieces are in place to make this an unquestionably "best of" film, but the script doesn't quite move along effectively, leaving pieces of the story to the viewers' imaginations and skipping from set piece to set piece with wild abandon. I enjoyed this film, but it's missing that x-factor to pull it all together; as good as it was, it feels like it could have been so much more.

Fair Film --- Better Soundtrack submitted by mcreader on August 10, 2018, 11:15am This is film is "inspired" by PT Barnum's life. The plot was average. It left the viewer wanting there to be more development in its characters and more elaboration in the story-line. The film covered different issues/topics but VERY superficially. Viewer was presented with a problem then all of a sudden resolved. So, the film felt disjointed. On the flip side, the choreography in the musical numbers was very well-done. The highlight is the music. The songs are very catchy!!!! --- Glad to see the talented UM SMTD alums Pasek and Paul do so well. The music carries the film --- makes it worth watching.

storyline that doesn't jump around. This one made an admirable if failed attempt. Visually, a triumph and musically
inspiring, the historic element makes it real. It is not the "greatest" but it is very entertaining and the performances
well done.

The music was excellent and not forced at all, adding to rather than pulling you out of the story. My only complaint is that the love story felt incredibly forced and unnecessary.

At the Disco and Fall Out Boy, and that dancing/choreography to go with it is awesome! It's always great to see Hugh Jackman, and he doesn't disappoint. I love how they have the oddities in the circus and bring them into the light to normalize them. Great love stories in there too. Need to see it again already! <3

The choreography is amazing, and the music is outstanding! The Greatest Showman is the story of P.T. Barnum. Watch it if you want to know what happens! It is very dramatic.

The greatest music for the greatest show submitted by SurfGrape on June 15, 2019, 2:30pm This is very very loosely based on the life of P.T. Barnum. The main appeal is the music and the dancing. Don't worry too much about historical accuracy--this is musical theater at its finest! Hugh Jackman is a standout, as is Keala Settle as Lettie (the "bearded lady.") Her power anthem, "This is Me" will stick with you long after the show is over.

Greatest Show! submitted by avrogers1 on June 19, 2019, 12:40pm THIS WAS THE FREATEST SHOW!!! This was an AMAZING film. From the cast, to the soundtrack, to the backdrops, everything is SPECTACULAR! This is probably one of the best movies I have seen come out in a long time. It give me such magical, feel good, vibes. Oh, and the costumes... And the special effects... There's not words. Everything about this movie is FANTASTIC!!! Its a must see for the whole family.

Watch Again and Again! Listen Again and Again! submitted by ekjensen on August 7, 2019, 8:44pm This wonderfully idealistic musical of PT Barnum is just plain slick with show stopping, sing-a-long songs that are beautifully staged and choreographed! Who cares if it is not totally accurate! It is in the same class as the classics of Lerner and Loew and Rodgers and Hammerstein with all the technicolor and technological improvements of the 21st century. Hugh Jackman is great! Michelle Williams is great! Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are great (and UM grads)!

(There were no animals in the beginining.) It was a short movie, so details of his story were left out, but it was still enjoyable.
