Solid Rock Autobiography submitted by howarde on July 7, 2020, 9:09pm I checked out this book because of my interest in some local historical topics related to the MC5. I've never actually listened to their music. Nonetheless, I burned through this book. Kramer is a good storyteller—his writing is straightforward and intelligent and his life story is interesting. Perhaps the most satisfying arc of the story doesn't have to do with his music, but with his triumph over substance abuse after several decades of struggle. You get the impression that in the present he is a happy and fulfilled musician, husband, and father who can look back at his past mistakes (of which there were many) with both clear-sightedness and compassion.
