A Beautifully Melancholy Blizzard submitted by Meginator on August 11, 2021, 5:03pm This album is imbued with a sense of melancholy, from its stripped-down instrumentation to the lyrics themselves, but Snow Patrol’s sadness here is beautiful and ultimately tinged with fragile hope. Touching on a number of deep themes and tackling them with poetic subtlety at times, the words are as important as the music, both coming together into an emotionally resonant package that just works. This album can be worn like a blanket; wrap yourself up, confront some deep truths about your past, and take comfort that you’re not alone.
