The Epitome of the Spaghetti Western submitted by Meginator on June 25, 2019, 9:19pm This film embodies every prominent spaghetti western trope, so much so that it’s almost difficult to watch today without a jaded eye. The phenomenal cinematography and score, however, cement its place in cinematic history, along with strong performances by the main cast; in its technical aspects, it is a masterpiece that holds up really well. The film does have some lamentable racism and sexism, which mars an otherwise excellent production that examines the roles of violence and greed in the romanticized Old West. The plot trades on constant tension that keeps the viewer hooked throughout, culminating in an epic, oft-imitated three-way standoff that wraps up the film rather nicely. From its production to its script and acting, this is a classic that deserves its reputation.

Great Classic submitted by generic username on August 12, 2019, 12:24pm Great classic that strongly influenced later films. Very rewatchable.
