Evolved Indie Pop submitted by Meginator on July 6, 2020, 5:42pm With it’s laid-back pop-rock vibe, blend of acoustic instruments, electronic instruments, synth layers, and a healthy dose of Benjamin Gibbard’s unique vocal stylings, this album feels like vintage Death Cab for Cutie. Less ponderous and more forward-thinking than some of the band’s most successful albums of the 00s, “Thank You for Today” offers a slightly updated take on the band’s established sound, nudging it ever so slightly forward while sticking to its tried-and-true formula. It may be more of the same, but why reinvent the wheel when you’ve got a good thing going?
