"In kindergarten, Jarrett Krosoczka's teacher asks him to draw his family, with a mommy and a daddy. But Jarrett's family is much more complicated than that. His mom is an addict, in and out of rehab, and in and out of Jarrett's life. His father is a mystery -- Jarrett doesn't know where to find him, or even what his name is. Jarrett lives with his grandparents -- two very loud, very loving, very opinionated people who had thought they were through with raising children until Jarrett came along"-- Provided by publisher.

Hey, Not Just for Youth submitted by James C. Clark on April 6, 2019, 1:34pm I found this to be a compelling memoir of a young man raised by his grandparents, especially so because he followed his heart to both his chosen occupation and, as an adult, a stable family life, against incredible odds. His connection to family is strong, tugging at the heartstrings at times. The teenage sulks were something I cannot appreciate fully at my age, but they were an obstacle to overcome toward becoming a functioning adult. Well done, Jarrett Krosoczka, for both this graphic biography and following your muse for our enrichment.

Wow. submitted by Xris on July 2, 2023, 12:08pm Incredibly frank in sharing about his family and its dealing with addiction. Great that he had other family to take care of him growing up. Lots of swearing and drinking, so maybe for high school students. I love that he used actual pictures that he drew or letters he got in the graphic novel. Well done, in this book and in life.

good submitted by SadieRose on July 6, 2023, 12:47pm good book. i enjoyed reading it.
