Edgy Modern Surf-Pop submitted by Meginator on August 31, 2019, 11:12pm La Luz’s core sound is best described as dreamy modern surf-pop with a raw, unfinished edge to it that gives it a kind of compelling honesty. Reverberating guitar riffs, soft-edged vocal processing, and layered harmonies create a sonic landscape that is far more complex and refined than it initially seems, and though the tracks tend to blend together on a first listen the experience is effortless and transformative. The sound is at once familiar and different, and I suspect that the album will reveal new nuances on each repeated play-through.
