Disappointing submitted by mrajraspn08 on March 31, 2019, 5:35pm I was excited to find the Express Shelf copy, since I've heard nothing but good things about this movie. And I was immensely disappointed. Most of the Spider-People had no purpose and could have been cut without changing the movie. There were a couple moments that really needed to be more fleshed out (won't go into details because of spoilers). The animation was distractingly bad. It takes a long time to get into the action. Aunt May and Mary Jane's characters should have been switched (watch it, and then watch it with that thought). There were a couple plotholes, and the "stop sticking!" scene went on way too long.
That said, it did have its positives. There were several really nice moments (that weren't given the time they deserved, but were beautiful). The characters weren't given enough time, but were true to their origins. There's so much about it that's very much a love letter to fans. The interactions between Peter Parker and Miles were the only reason I kept watching--I wish the whole movie had been about that instead of all the extra characters.
If you're a superfan, you'll probably enjoy it. And there's so many good reviews, it's probably worth watching. But it could have been much better, and I don't anticipate watching again.

I hope they make another one...The homage at the beginning to the TV Spiderman series was a great start. And I like the message that anyone can be Spiderman, it's just a leap of faith.

Enjoyable submitted by gxtan on July 15, 2019, 10:42am I liked the idea behind the animation style, but it seemed inconsistent at times. The interactions between characters, particularly Peter/Miles and Miles/his father, were good, if sometimes rushed through to make more time for action scenes. Overall an enjoyable movie to watch with a pretty standard superhero plot.

I liked it more than I expected to submitted by kaymbre on July 8, 2023, 7:23am I took my daughters to see this when it was in the theater. I wasn't expecting much of it, but was pleasantly surprised. It's definitely written and animated for a younger audience. Still, even a middle aged guy like me could find characters with whom he could identify. They even discovered an Easter egg with Miles' uncle and Spiderman: Homecoming.
