The Boy Band We Deserve submitted by Meginator on June 26, 2019, 11:17pm BTS is the perfect boy band for the modern era, blending rapped and sung lyrics into a satisfying blend of pure pop joy that works even if you don’t understand Korean. “Boy With Luv” is an absolute jam, and each of the rest of the tracks is similarly addictive in its own right. The song structure highlights each member’s individual contributions rather than relying on harmonizing, and they work really well together to maintain a consistent sound out of which their individual personalities gradually emerge. Sometimes, all pop needs to be is fun, and BTS embody that lighthearted sensibility; it comes through despite the language barrier. Instantly iconic and eminently enjoyable, the only thing wrong with this album is its relatively brief duration.

I found them through this mini album, and from there I fell down the rabbit hole. The music is at once inspiring, moving, pleasant, and everything I need. BTS, I purple you!
