"Kristen Peterson doesn't do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don't get her. She's also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children. Planning her best friend's wedding is bittersweet for Kristen--especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He's funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family someday. Kristen knows he'd be better off with someone else, but as their attraction grows, it's harder and harder to keep him at arm's length."--Page 4 of cover

A good summer read that needs a better title submitted by mcrump on July 15, 2019, 3:19pm Although I gave this book 4 stars, I think it should have a different title as I find the title pretty misleading. Although Kristen does keep Josh in the "friend zone" so to speak, it is not for the reasons most people would assume. The story ends up being about much more than just a surface level romance. At times I thought the book's plot felt a little all over the place, but the story has more emotional depth and character development than I would have anticipated from a romance. It's light and humorous at times but it also addresses some heavy topics. This book should have a trigger warning, however, for those who might be upset by themes around infertility, death/loss, and women's health issues.

The Friend Zone submitted by pamhockey25 on August 18, 2020, 8:53pm ...is about so much more than this title reveals. There are a lot of things that happen in this book that you will surprise you based on the title. Infertility, unexpected death, issues between mother and daughter. So, while I did enjoy the book and the couple does start with a friendship, there is a lot more going on.

A new fave submitted by 17661 on August 1, 2022, 9:53am Abby Jimenez has won my heart (and now owns my wallet). As other reviewers noted, this book has so much more emotional depth than I usually expect from a romance novel- in a good way. I listened to this on audio and absolutely loved Kristen and Josh's story. However, take caution as some topics (infertility, other man drama, OCD/mental health struggles, grief/loss) may be triggering for certain readers.

A perfect summer read submitted by asangtani on July 1, 2023, 9:40am Kristen and Josh are the kind of adorable couple found in every Abby Jimenez book that makes this a fun summer beach read with a little bit of seriousness about facing illnesses.
