A Beautiful Mix of Sci-Fi and Poetry submitted by kkrasity on July 19, 2020, 8:18pm This short book packs a lot of beauty into its pages. It starts off with an interesting sci-fi premise and becomes more intricate and poetic by the chapter, creating an ultimately very clever and romantic story.

Beautiful and moving submitted by eilusk on June 19, 2022, 8:53pm The prose was sometimes difficult to follow because the book is dense with complicated sci-fi premises and poetic metaphors. I admit I skimmed a few sections rather than try to interpret whatever elaborate Spy vs Spy shenanigans Red and Blue were up to in that particular time period, but it never completely lost me. I'm a sucker for poetic imagery and symbolism, and the emotional heart of the romance is clear. Totally enchanting and lovely.

Not my favorite, mostly because of the formatting style submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 20, 2022, 9:47pm I didn’t love the storytelling style of this book, and that made it hard for me to like the book. (I didn’t love the style of _The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society_, either, to be consistent and fair.) Plus I felt like the writing at the beginning of _Lose the Time War_ was… odd. It was choppy, used incomplete sentences, the content was opaque, and it felt deliberately out-of-kilter, in a way that I think was meant to help the reader understand that the narrators are not human. I get it, but I didn’t enjoy it as a reader.

The writing smoothed out as we get into the book, and I did start to enjoy the story more. In the end, it felt like a writing exercise turned all the way into a published book. It wasn’t quite my thing. On the other hand, it was creative and I like to read things outside of my usual comfort zones and styles, because life would be boring otherwise.

100% Recommend !! submitted by em_pawl on June 11, 2023, 1:45pm Rarely will you find a book in which the authors truly understand and play with words as much as this one. I most enjoyed the parallels between the technologies of the future and the mechanics of our time. Gorgeous depictions of imagery and both heartwarming and heart-wrenching letters will keep you entertained throughout the whole book.
