At the height of the Cold War, two secretaries are pulled out of the typing pool at the CIA and given the assignment of a lifetime. Their mission: to smuggle Doctor Zhivago out of the USSR, where no one dare publish it, and help Pasternak's magnum opus make its way into print around the world. Glamorous and sophisticated Sally Forrester is a seasoned spy who has honed her gift for deceit all over the world--using her magnetism and charm to pry secrets out of powerful men. Irina is a complete novice, and under Sally's tutelage quickly learns how to blend in, make drops, and invisibly ferry classified documents.

Book submitted by Clown81 on August 31, 2019, 8:19pm It's a secret.

a twisty, rewarding read submitted by bec on July 11, 2020, 12:51pm In a thriller-ish story of espionage, art, geopolitics, and human relationships, Prescott explores the publication of Dr. Zhivago from multiple perspectives- especially women's. I loved it. I'd read it again.

This had great potential... submitted by smgop on August 7, 2020, 7:23pm But did not deliver, unfortunately. I may have set my hopes too high for this book.

Had potential submitted by emroon on July 17, 2022, 3:53pm I think maybe I expected this book to be a spy thriller, but it ended up being mostly about people who worked in an office. I think it could have been better
