Ten Out of Ten submitted by Avliss on July 9, 2020, 11:49am This is, hands-down, one of the best musicals I've ever had the pleasure of listening too. Anais Mitchell combines Greek myth with soulful croon of American Jazz, breathing new life into a timeless tale and making Orpheus' journey relevant to present audiences. While the musical itself is gorgeous and features brilliant choreography, the soundtrack alone will make you laugh and weep. If you listen to no other song, then check out "Why We Build the Wall", whose chilling lyrics gained increased significance with the Trump presidency.

We saw it live in Detroit, and my daughter loved it so much that we've been listening to the soundtrack on repeat ever since. The music is haunting and beautiful—the kind that gets stuck in your head and your heart. “Why We Build the Wall,” written twenty years ago, feels especially timely and thought-provoking. A brilliant blend of myth, music, and meaning.

I downloaded this soundtrack, and have enjoyed revisiting the beautiful music and lyrics. I loved the voices in the travelling cast that I saw, but this original recording is also quite excellent.
