Nick Broomfield's most personal and romantic film of his storied career starts on the Greek island of Hydra in 1960, where Leonard Cohen, then a struggling and unknown fiction writer, and Marianne Ihlen, a single mother with a young son, became part of community of expat artists, writers, and musicians. Never-before-seen footage shot by Broomfield and legendary documentarian D.A. Pennebaker make form a unique portrait of an idyllic 1960's bohemia.

Bitter Sweet submitted by phuhn on August 25, 2022, 10:05pm I have been a fan of Leonard Cohen since the early 70's. I have read 'Beautiful Losers'. It is essential to watch this to understand the backstory, especially 'Beautiful Losers'. But, it was bitter sweet to here and see the story of Leonard's career. It was sad. I'm so glad he eventually found his spiritualism.
