On a spring morning, neighbors Valentina Kaplan and Oksana Savchenko wake up to an angry red sky. A reactor at the nuclear power plant where their fathers work--Chernobyl--has exploded. A Really Great Book submitted by skalantr on July 2, 2023, 8:40am The Blackbird Girls is an amazing book about, love, friendship, and WW2, as well as the 1980's, when the nuclear reactor in Chernobyl exploded. It takes place in the Soviet Union. I woUld HIGHLY recommend this amazing book.
