the devil can have it submitted by danmurphey on March 8, 2023, 7:52am Without a doubt, one of the worst books I've had the misfortune to read in a long time. The author throws into the plot the whole kitchen sink: an imprisoned aspiring "Sherlock Holmes", his loyal hero, a jinxed ship on the high seas, lepers, mutinous seamen, lots of rats (of course), pirates, a treasure island, ghosts and demons. The ending is so pollyannaish and ridiculous that it was embarrassing to read (and I was alone at the time!). Save yourself -- pitch this one into the deepest "dark water" you can find!
