As a wealthy Renaissance merchant, acquire mines and transportation, hire artisans and woo the nobility. Create the most fantastic jewelry to become the best-known merchant of them all! Acquire precious stones to trade them for development cards. Use development cards to acquire more gem stones. Use your gems and gold to create the most fantastic jewelry, and appeal to the nobles to gain the prestige you need to win. Splendor is a fast-paced and addictive game of chip-collecting and card development. Players are merchants of the Renaissance trying to buy gem mines, means of transportation, shops; all in order to acquire the most prestige points. If you're wealthy enough, you might even receive a visit from a noble at some point, which of course will further increase your prestige.

Fast play, easy to learn submitted by mowjac on January 15, 2021, 10:35am This is essentially a numbers game: you are trying to get to 15 first. But gathering your resources can take time, although once you develop a strategy, you'll gather faster. I found this tricky to win, managing the resources with other players, but also very easy to learn to play and very easy to play again and again and again.

Love it submitted by eileenw on August 4, 2021, 10:39pm It's easy to learn Splendor. The game has the right mix of intensity and speed, meaning you can easily play a few rounds in an evening, or just one and be done. Each round is 20-30 min to play including set up and instruction time. It's part counting, part luck of the cards, which means it's hard for cutthroat players to "outgame the game" or "sabotage" other players; surprise winners often crop up, which adds to the laid back delight of this game. If you like playing rummy, you may also enjoy this game for its similarities of play. The pieces/cards are pretty and the chips have a really pleasing weight/feel in the hand.

Can be played with 2-4 players. Note: We've found that the 2 player game is more fun when the Nobles are removed from play.

This game works well even if you have players with a wide range of ages/abilities, although players with low or limited vision may find it challenging to differentiate the cards and coins.

Fun! submitted by 21621032124198 on September 6, 2021, 7:36pm This game was really fun, but the Nobles should be worth more points (7 - 10 points). "Splendor" is designed for ages 10+, but 7 to 10-year-olds always win! We played 5 times today!

grownups liked it; occasionally frustrating for the kid submitted by bfields on October 2, 2021, 7:53pm My wife and I liked it. The kid tend to pursue overly rigid strategies and then get frustrated when they didn't work out. He was willing to play again, though, so that didn't seem to completely ruin the game for him.

Simple Strategy Game submitted by choichr on June 23, 2022, 10:22am Splendor is a fun game to play with friends or family. It's easy to set up and easy to learn. Although there is a bit of luck involved with drawing cards, there is definitely strategy involved in winning the game. You will need to lay cards out on a flat surface so this game is best played indoors or outdoors on a non-windy day.

Fun for the family submitted by acurry673 on August 18, 2022, 11:52pm We like how quick we were able to learn this game. It was fun, but i can’t see us playing again

This game shines submitted by FordAlpha on August 27, 2023, 9:59pm This is one of several games we've checked out from AADL and subsequently bought for our home because we enjoyed it so much. Splendor is fun for older kids and adults; collecting the gem cards is fun for younger kids too, even if they don't have a great grasp of strategy. Although there's a particular strategy that usually wins, it's possible for players pursuing very different strategies to come out quite close in final points. It's also possible for a surprise winner to emerge unexpectedly. Some families or gaming groups might find the replay value to be low, however, as it is a fairly simple game without much variation from game to game.
