Even for a regular puzzler like me, this was pretty challenging, especially because there was no reference photo to work from. But that's what made it so interesting and satisfying when I actually finished it. This puzzle really made me think of new ways to "piece information together", making it a cool and fun learning experience!

Unique and Rewarding! submitted by Meginator on June 22, 2023, 2:18pm This puzzle was easily the most difficult, but also the most enjoyable and surprising, of the ones I have tried from the AADL’s collection, although (and perhaps because) I did it without looking at the box (the cover image shows the individual pieces’ shapes). I ended up working more or less by layer, beginning with the outside and middle and working outward based on the pieces’ sizes and shapes, as well as some blocks of color that stood out among the chaos within the box. After that, I resorted to working with each individual piece, which sounds agonizing but which I found very relaxing and satisfying in practice. The high degree of difficulty means that this won’t appeal to everyone, but as someone who puts together a lot of jigsaw puzzles I was really impressed by how nicely the experience flowed from strategy to strategy, and I’m glad that the AADL chose to add something so abstract and complex to the collection.

Tricky submitted by chowcy on July 8, 2023, 7:55am One of the harder 500 puzzles in this collection. The shapes are very irregular so it can be hard to find all the edge pieces. I couldn't find a good way to sort them, although there are more patterns in the outer rings. I referenced the image A LOT, which isn't how I normally like to do puzzles. Still, if you want a challenge, this should scratch that itch
