A Marvel Cinematic Universe origin story submitted by eileenw on June 18, 2022, 7:40pm IMO Marvel shines with its origin stories and Shang-Chi is no exception. The family drama is dark and twisty. Awkwafina is hilarious as always. And the runtime (just over 2hrs) is long enough to give you a chance to sink your teeth into the story and the characters' emotions and dilemmas without feeling rushed.

Admittedly, Ben Kingsley's character is sort of an odd addition to the story. But his entrance works as comic relief for a stretch when the story could have otherwise gotten too dark and taken itself too seriously.
