Some Unexpected Hilarity submitted by Meginator on June 29, 2023, 11:12am This strangle little puzzle was an absolute delight to put together, even if (especially because?) it is a bit…odd in its style, shapes, and symbols. Many of the pieces have rather unusual shapes to accommodate the puzzle’s special cutouts, which assists with the solving process and also lends the puzzle a good deal of its quirkiness. The illustrations are completely out of scale with one another and occasionally placed awry, which make them both informative (I learned about Brazilian pineapples after erroneously assuming they were misplaced) and hilarious (I’m pretty sure the grapes are supposed to be in Northern California, not the middle of Nevada, and a hot air balloon excursion over the top-secret British Indian Ocean Territory seems ill-advised, but who am I to judge?). This puzzle has a great deal of whimsicality to it that makes it a fantastic choice both for newer solvers and longtime jigsaw enthusiasts, and I thoroughly enjoyed it even when I found its specific choices were a bit…puzzling.
