He Was Named to Illustrate This Book submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 10:14pm I was very pleased to find that this book makes good on the premise in the title, as a boy and his father attempt to create a pizza with everything on it. The story proceeds a bit predictably at first, with the illustrations adding a lot to the humor, until it takes a turn for the surreal about midway through. This delighted me, as the author wrestles with the existential crisis that putting literally (and I do mean “literally” literally) everything on a pizza might create. The twist ending is another delightful surprise, with the illustrations really selling the point. Despite the fact that this book takes off in an unexpected (yet appropriate) direction, young readers should be able to follow along; older readers may find themselves contemplating the meaning of life, the universe, pizza, and everything. Or not, you know, but I enjoyed the book well enough.
