"While we live, the enemy shall fear us. Since she was born, Kyr has trained for the day she can avenge the murder of planet Earth. Raised in the bowels of Gaea Station alongside the last scraps of humanity, she readies herself to face the Wisdom, the powerful, reality-shaping weapon that gave the majoda their victory over humanity. They are what's left. They are what must survive. Kyr is one of the best warriors of her generation, the sword of a dead planet. When Command assigns her brother to certain death and relegates her to Nursery to bear sons until she dies trying, she knows must take humanity's revenge into her own hands. Alongside her brother's brilliant but seditious friend and a lonely, captive alien, Kyr escapes from everything she's known into a universe far more complicated than she was taught and far more wondrous than she could have imagined"-- Provided by publisher.

Imaginative submitted by Emily Jennings on August 12, 2023, 3:38pm The plot takes some twists and turns in a good way. The last quarter to a third of the book was a little harder to keep up with but it’s really interesting to see the different takes on the characters.
Great Book
submitted by Jeannette Quirk on August 6, 2024, 2:23pm
This book is about Kyr, who lives in a society that has brainwashed her to hate the people who murdered the earth and all earthers that side with them. She is lock step with her people's ideals until she is exposed to outside elements. Then the story gets interesting.
I really liked this book. For the first bit, you read along and Kyr is so idealistic she has no idea that she's going to be relegated to popping out warrior babies for the cause for the rest of her life. I thought it would be a story of triumph or maybe subversion from the ranks of the broodmare population of Kyr's people but the story went wildly elsewhere. There is a kidnapping, utter destruction and time travel and it was a ride.
Fantastic submitted by mowjac on December 27, 2024, 2:00pm Great character development and change, great political insight and a wild ride of time travel and gravity free action. Kurt is born into a fascist, sexist society but doesn’t question it until her dream is derailed. Then she starts to take action and trying her best to do her best and be accountable—-but to what and whom? In the best tradition of Bujold and LeGuin.
Fabulous submitted by LeoRosso on August 22, 2025, 4:58pm A spectacular take on how a person can grow and leave a cult/fascist society. Kyr is a fascinating character who I didn't really like, but I did understand, and I wanted to see her grow and change--and was pleased to see how she did it. A great ride and very interesting.
