much ado about nothing? submitted by aScheller on April 21, 2025, 11:28am dispensing with Shakespeare's Don John's malign machinations through chaste Hero being falsely impugned by fiancé Claudio (Halle and Claudia here), this version of a marriage staged in Australia concentrates on Beatrice confronting Ben (probably not short for "Benedict" but he certainly is built (as is she)). The attribution is clear near the last quarter of the film when "Much Ado About Nothing" is written across a stage theater billboard in the background.
Usual romantic trope of two persons meant to be together ending up separated and sniping at each other until fate and proximity make them realize they should join, after all.
There are numerous filmed versions of the Shakespeare play, including one (2013) directed by Josh Whedon using stalwart actors from his sci-fi plots, or (1993) directed by Kenneth Branagh with other established stage/film actors.
