Definitely an Album Experience submitted by am_nich21 on July 3, 2024, 9:43am I really enjoyed this album, especially the way that it seems designed to be listened to as a whole piece. The interlude tracks broke up different sections very nicely. I do think that it tends to gesture toward the idea of social commentary rather than saying much, but to me, the music is good enough that I think it's a worthwhile listening experience.

Country Music Reimagined submitted by Meginator on July 7, 2024, 1:43pm This is an innovative reimagining of country music through a decidedly R&B-focused lens, which leads to some interesting natural comparisons and connections between the genres. As usual, Beyoncé pulls out all the stops, and she isn't one to do anything by half-measures, meaning that this album has a lot of variety among its tracks and an all-star lineup of guest artists. Sitting somewhere between country, folk, R&B, and rap, the music refuses to be constrained by common conceptions of what any of these genres has to be and instead explores the liminal spaces between them, to excellent effect. Sitting both within the genre and outside of it, these songs invite listeners (especially those who have felt excluded from certain scenes) to make the music they want to make, and to hear, and to find themselves within. It's a landmark album both for its concept and for its execution, with a lot to offer and a wide-ranging envisioning of what contemporary country music can, and arguably should, contain. All that, and also: the vast majority of these songs are just plain great.
