Not as good as the first, but still 5 stars submitted by gtaylor on June 12, 2025, 2:38pm I was completely in love with the first book in the series (The House in the Cerulean Sea), so expectations were high for the sequel. The characters remain endearing and memorable. The story builds off of where we left our found family, so make sure you've read that one first. If you are an Arthur fan, you will also get a lot of backstory to him in this book. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5!
Moving, funny, and beautiful submitted by sara.samuel on June 13, 2025, 10:38pm Wonderful continuation of The House in the Cerulean Sea. I lived getting to see the continuation of relationships from the first book, but with Arthur as the main character instead of Linus. The children are delightful, as always, with the wonderful addition of another child. You will not be disappointed if you enjoyed the first book! The audiobook is a real treat, too, with each child having their own unique voice, as it should be.
Not as good as the first book but still a good read submitted by alharman1022 on July 5, 2025, 6:59pm More focusing on Arthur, he is a less interesting character to watch develop. Still good commentary on being a good being
Second part submitted by AnnAsplund on July 7, 2025, 8:03am Beautiful and moving second half of the " House in the Cerulean Sea". It gives you the backstory to Arthur, but also shows how Arthur and Linus grow together. Love it.
Great follow up submitted by santose15 on July 8, 2025, 11:13pm Reading this book in today's world was powerful and moving. TJ Klune, I'm not sure how long it's going to take me to recover from this book. The acknowledgments were 10/10 and screw you JK Rowling.
i just love this!! submitted by katiefurms on July 13, 2025, 12:32pm a touching and powerful story, while also being a cozy and comfy happy read. The epilogue and acknowledgements both had me crying tears of happiness and beauty
delightful and meaningful

the dedication made me happy. But let's talk about the story. Your favorite magical youth grownup and enter puberty. (Oddly endearing to hear about Chauncey and his ink...) as the kids grow up, the world is changing. We learn SO much more about the adults who raise the magical youth.
surprisingly the acknowledgements was so touching. I cried tears reading what TJ Klune wants his legacy to be.
In a sometimes harsh world, this book gives hope.
not as good as the first submitted by apknapp on August 17, 2025, 12:21pm The characters just didn't seem as crisp to me--maybe it had been too long since I read the first one, but I don't think the author spent enough time really establishing/conveying their distinct personalities.
good continuation submitted by leigh27 on August 24, 2025, 10:19am I loved The House in the Cerulean Sea, and this book was a nice continuation of the story. I loved getting to know the characters better, and the charm of the first book is still there. I thought the plot was less compelling, but this is worth reading if you enjoyed the first book.
