Better Than the Film Itself submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 9:16am This is, like all of the Star Wars scores, an exceptional work of orchestral storytelling that derives much of its power from its effective use of repeated motifs. These are particularly clear in this film’s score, which quotes from iconic pieces such as “Duel of the Fates” and “The Imperial March” during pivotal points in Anakin Skywalker’s journey to the Dark Side. The songs effectively evoke the film’s action and emotion, sometimes better than the film itself, and the whole thing starts and ends with one of history’s most iconic fanfares. The film itself may be muddled, but its score is solid.
