Evolves in an interesting way submitted by prlhw on June 18, 2012, 5:45pm At first I thought this book, being about cricket and a guy from England, would be too white-washed for me. I like a little bit of cultural diversity, you know? But the way O'Neill eventually uncovers the truths behind the sport of cricket is really mystifying. For the most part, this book is set in New York City, which allows O'Neill to play with the unique cultures that could only surface in NYC. Really, an interesting read. O'Neill also does a lot of great stuff with weaving in cricket-based metaphors that add an unexpected depth to the novel.
excellent character study submitted by 21621031390949 on July 4, 2019, 12:09am Strange, but compelling story. Beautiful prose, but I also found myself skimming over it when it became too complex/ornate/wordy.
