The Best! submitted by sbaccouc on August 14, 2011, 4:58am This book was the best, and I wish I had more time to copy the recipes inside it! Loved it!!

Richly descriptive, intriguing premise submitted by terpsichore17 on July 10, 2018, 2:32pm Adroit handling of an interesting premise. Very rich descriptions of food preparation, which delighted me even more than Ginny having learned all the words of a dictionary page together. Ginny's ability to summon up ghosts by preparing handwritten recipes reads as somewhat less mysterious than her own faculties/ personality/ neurological status/ what you will. Setting it against the backdrop of grief, with all related feelings and sororal friction, gives the story some urgency.

Kind of like Lars and the Real Girl, but with cooking instead of a life-sized doll. Sort of like The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, but with a closer-to-life quality. Relationships somewhat reminiscent of The Elegance of the Hedgehog.
