Fun tool for searching submitted by vulke99 on August 5, 2018, 11:02am These are cool to use to search areas. Lots of fun!

great tool submitted by teri on June 17, 2019, 10:56pm First, we used this to locate our water main shutoff, which had been buried underground for 30 years.
Then, we buried "treasure" very shallowly in our yard - for a treasure hunt for the little ones.

Metal Detector submitted by c_zhang on June 19, 2019, 1:26am We brought this to the beach, it's really fun to use!

Metal Detector submitted by Varshini on June 24, 2019, 7:56pm I'd always wanted to use one of these, and it was very cool to finally try one out!

always wanted to try one! submitted by Adam Graham on August 3, 2019, 12:35am Fun to bring a long to the beach up north!

Neat! submitted by evie2017 on August 12, 2019, 12:26pm This was a really neat tool to borrow for the weekend. Can't say I exactly found anything cool on my hunt, but it was still fun to play around with. It's very user friendly, and also comes with a manual if you need help troubleshooting. Didn't know the library had these sorts of tools!

Metal detector submitted by tbbrown76 on August 12, 2019, 10:46pm Not super powerful for treasure hunters or meteor hunters, nevertheless it will be fun for the younger set to do some science and exploring. Recommended for under 12.

A Wish Fulfilled submitted by kimberlina on August 31, 2019, 10:30pm I've always wanted to try one of these. How great is it that we can do that for FREE in Ann Arbor. Thanks AADL! OK, so it was a bit frustrating to try to find cool stuff. Grass and gravel were very hard to work with, but I had a lot of fun going to a beach volleyball court and digging in the sand. We found about a dollars worth of change, some bits of metal and bottle caps. Probably won't need to try it again, but it sure was fun once...

No Way submitted by Whitetnchina on July 22, 2020, 10:05am I can't believe the library has this! Can't wait to borrow it!

Never thought I'd be interested, but ... submitted by lisa on July 27, 2021, 6:19pm ... there's this TV show called The Detectorists that was on the BBC and can now be gotten at through Amazon Prime via IMDbTV if you're willing to watch commercials--- OR you can get it out of this very library!! Perhaps I'll do the remaining seasons on lent DVDs. It's charming. I've just gotten through the 6th episode and suddenly want to metal-detect. Just to commune with the fictional characters.

Show your kid this submitted by crp on August 4, 2022, 9:38pm Show your kid this and it will forever change their idea of what is 'findable'!
