My excitement after reading this was neverending!
This comic blends popular culture and mythology in a way that I've never seen before. It tells the story of twelve normal teenagers who suddenly manifest the power and divinity of gods from mythologies all over the world. Their incarnations are not antiquated - they manifest as modern constructs. For example, Dionysis is a rave DJ, Ares a sports superstar, and the Morrigan is a goth icon. Even though they're gods, they are still teenagers - and make the same stupid decisions and are ruled by the same hormones. It's a riotously fun romp through all aspects of human nature.
Some themes touched on are teenage disillusionment, loneliness, cultural appropriation, gender studies, celebrity worship, the perils of fame and the difficulties of growing up.
