Okay submitted by DL on June 22, 2017, 1:19pm Was expecting more of a story formatted book. This book was more fact, information book.
Highly recommended submitted by Cherie on July 28, 2023, 2:34pm Although the story drags a little during the sections outlining aeronautical history and mathematics, it provides an in-depth understanding of just how difficult and significant the work was that these women did. There were also so many women involved, as listed by the author, that it's baffling to think they didn't get recognized in their time. The few highlighted in this book truly stand out as having paved the way for their fellow computers, women, and women of color. Bouncing between history lesson and historical narrative, this book traces the lives of some of the most prominent female computers in NASA. Without them, we would not be where we are today with flight and space travel.
Hidden Figures (audiobook) submitted by nemiller on August 6, 2023, 4:18pm An engaging history of race and gender relations in the United States in the 1940's to 1970's, as told through the history of NASA, as told through the story of four black women who worked at NASA. All made even more engaging through the impeccable reading by Robin Miles.
