Promises and Play submitted by Sara W on July 10, 2017, 8:10pm This is a sweet and playful take on separation anxiety, without feeling like an "issue" book. The dad's answers to the different ways he would come and get his child if the car didn't start/the neighbors weren't home/the boat sailed away, etc. Cuteness abounds and the vintage-looking illustrations are a total win.

The illustrations are brightly colored, but their style doesn't appeal to me very much; and the book didn't appeal to my kids, who sat through only one reading.
