Good Historical Fiction submitted by Meginator on June 22, 2018, 6:04pm I really enjoyed this fictionalization of the real lives of the women who were married to the Mercury 7 astronauts during the first years of the manned U.S. space program. The lead actresses all do an excellent job, portraying their characters with complexity and compassion. Some of the nuts and bolts elements are a bit off, including some questionable pacing decisions (especially in the pilot and finale) and occasional ham-fisted writing, but the show’s depiction of an ensemble of strong, capable women is important and compelling. I enjoyed the series despite its obvious flaws.
