Buckle Up, Gamers! Badge Drop #7 Puts the Pedal to the Metal!

by nicole

Traveling is all the rage during summer. We know it. We're down with the trends. We've been doing a lot of traveling this summer and you've probably been doing a bit of traveling too, right? Traveling through the catalog for codes. Traveling to parks in the hothothot sun for glorious points. Traveling to your Aunt Gertrude's house for dignity-crushing cheek-pinches. And we're sure lots of you have been traveling around your neighborhood and walking into walls and falling off of docks playing a certain game that rhymes with Frokemon Shmo.

We know you're about ready to sit down and take a break and that's cool. Breaks are nice. But you know what's better?

BADGES.

OBVIOUSLY.

2016 Badge Drop #7
echo theme_summergame_badge(1260,1261,1262,1263,1264,1265,1268,1267,1272,1266,1257,1255,1270,1253,1259,1269,1258,1254,1256,1276,1277,1274,1275,1273,1271);
?>

So GET UP, gamer! Get out of that SWIVELLY COMPUTER CHAIR, abandon AUNT GERTRUDE'S PLASTIC-COVERED COUCH, pull YOURSELF and your DAMAGED PHONE out of whatever RIVER/LAKE/POND was at the end of that dock, and buckle those seat belts because this game is NON-STOP!

If you look to your right you'll see some brand new ARBOR EXPLORER badges! If you look to your left you'll spot CIV CITY, where the currency is CIVIC ENGAGEMENT and everyone is FILTHY RICH! And if you look right up ahead you'll probably have all kinds of comments to make because this week marks the drop of our COMMENT MASTER BADGES!!! "Whaaaaat?!" you might say! Or maybe "Wooooow!" Or possibly "Oooooooh!" and also "Aaaaaah!" It's really up to you what comments you make--that's the beauty of FREE WILL and THE SUMMER GAME!

Now, the Summer Game might not make any stops, but your LOCAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY is ALL ABOUT making stops and we've teamed up with them to bring you some BUS-A-RIFFIC, TRANSIT-TASTIC badges that will make all of these seat belt references seem ridiculous because BUSES ARE INHERENTLY SEAT BELTLESS.

And since it's Friday you can count on some pretty cool prizes rolling into the Summer Game Shop, so stay tuned for more on that!

Now it's time to get up, get out, and get going!

Happy travels, gamers, and THANKS FOR PLAYING!

The last civ city answer is giving me trouble. What's the format of the date?
Thanks!
TBB

Such fun! Having serious trouble with the fourth clue for the diamond heist one. I really feel like I found the right book, but no code...any help?

I passed a bus on the north side of town this evening and was happy to see that it did indeed have a code on the side! The other people in the car with me probably thought I was a little crazy getting so excited about a bus.

I'm confused - I entered the code for "board the ride" earlier today, and the code line shows the code and says "You Found It". But I haven't been awarded the badge - actually only one person has and it's not me. Does something else need to be done?

Thanks!

For Moons of Jupiter #3 I think I know the answer and have tried 1, 2 and 3 word answers in various permutations - any further hint from those who have earned it?
Thanks (NIGHT666)

Love the new badges! Tried to do the power art badge, but couldn't get the first code, so unable to do the rest. Would it be possible to have each power box clue written out like the park explorer ones? So you dont need a cell phone to find the next clues. We used the two words in the sign plus three different trees, but none of them worked.

Re: the Board the Ride Badge not showing up. Never mind! At 9:23pm it was magically awarded. Thank you library elves!

@lmworks

If you entered the code earlier, the badge should be awarded after your next scoring event! In other words, do something (anything!) to earn points and that will jumpstart the system into giving you the badge.

Ditto @Thomas B Brown and @kathscot. We've tried lots of date variations and nothing's been recognized.

"SO MUCH OPPORTUNITY TO BE WRONG"
Story of my life.
Thanks, witty Summer Game Shop Tschotsch-describer.

@kathscot

For the third code of moons of Jupiter, it should just be one word that starts with R that you search in the catalog.

I'm somewhat afraid of my new Polychromatic Timecube that I received today. When I pulled off the battery tabs, it flashed colorful lights and played music! I love the large display. And I will be happy not to have to reset it after power outages. Thanks library.

I got some Summer Game Shop swag today! The wind-up robots are pretty great. They don't walk, but they definitely DANCE!

I'm looking forward to trying out the mini kite this weekend. :)

I just left a completely ridiculous jokey but referential tag on an item while doing the latest Muppet badge. I simply couldn't resist. I'll delete it later.

(I also did a perfectly valid tag, so it wasn't just for the points.)

My five year old just picked up his SG prizes and is obsessed with his alarm clock and magic 8 ball. Thank you SG masters for find us such amazing prizes!

And I am loving the new partnership with AATA. We love riding the bus, so earning SG points on top of it rocks!

Having trouble getting some of these to work. I, too, couldn't get any format to work for the general election date. Also, the Musicals badge says to look for a particular actress (with lots of clues as to who she is), in the catalog, but when I searched her name (and I know I have the name right) none of the items that came up had the code.

My new Polychromatic Timecube woke me up this morning with a special rendition of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas!" (Temperature: 81 degrees)

All this talk of the Time Cube is making me want to tun through the rain to the library to get mine now. But I just now realized that I didn't get a notification that my order was ready. Alas, maybe next week.

Also stuck trying to find the fourth code for the musicals badge. I see that no one has earned the badge yet which is a red flag that something is wrong.

I'm SOO far behind! This needs to go on another week longer than usual. The hard ones are really hard this year! I'l be posting here for a bunch of help todayy as I attempt to plow through some of these badges.

I have had the same problem as some other posters here - I eventually got unstuck on the Moons of Jupiter, but I have been having trouble with the Diamond Heist and the Musicals.

Like KelleyC, I feel like I've found the right book, which has yellow gloves on the cover, but no dice. No code, and the name of the protagonist of the book didn't work as a code either (not first, not last, not both together), and the title of the book didn't work as a code, with or without "the". Yet, I can see that people have gotten this badge! Anything Kelley and I are missing?

For the musicals one - I only saw 55 things with the actress from the musicals, not 57, but I tried all of them and didn't find a code. Looks like no one's gotten that badge yet.

Musicals badge had an error in a code - that's been repaired now! Sorry, game players!

oh yay fridays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ KelleyC, @nemiller The hint isn't helpful for the Diamonds badge #4 (in fact, I think it's more of a red herring). I googled around and found a different flavor.

To all the summer gamers out there,
I am working on the Hiding and Seeking badge and I need help finding the last code word. I have googled up the anwser I think I am looking for and when I put it into the calalouge I get thousands of anwser to searh through. I am hoping that some of you gamer's out there can help me out with some more clues as to where look for the final code word.
Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

@Lmd3577

I found the last code to Hiding and Seeking by searching only the first word in the name, V------. There were nine results, and the code was in one of them.

What fun. I like comments from others who have some problems finding codes. I know I'm not alone.

My husband and I are having a lot of fun doing this together. We even have some friends that have joined now, too.

Thank you @SBNB ! You got me unstuck on the Jovian Moons clue 3. I kept trying words within the clue itself, but your tip made me realize what it actually meant.

I admit, I felt daunted when I saw the Pokémon baddies badge - such flashbacks to the Pokémon badge series! But I got it. I got ALL of it! :)

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I'm working on the "Diamonds Gone Forever" badge and I need help finding the second code word. I have googled up the possible answer to no avail. I am hoping that some of you could help me with some more clues to help me find the second code word.
Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

@logista. Thank you for the assistance but I still have not been able to solve Diamonds Gone Forever #4. I found the book everyone else was talking about. However, I have not found an alternative through google or catalog searches. I think I have been through 100 books in the catalog with no success. Any additional assistance would be appreciated.

@jshearer1 - Welcome to the game! Hope you enjoy it and come back next year for lots more fun.

Thanks for adding me to your friend list - I added you to mine, so that means we both got some bonus points. :)

I wish there was some way to know about and easily read someone replying to one of your posts. Something like a notification in your account that will route you right to the post.

It would also be really great if replies were in a thread format. As it is, I don't see any functional difference between doing a reply post or a new one.

I don't either, Fevvers. I think they didn't expect that so many comments would get posted!

For diamonds 4th clue try "the untold story of the World's Biggest Diamond Heist" website.
Now I'm stuck on 5th clue. Any further hints, gamers?

Has anyone gotten to the "Search TheRide" badge? I found the first and fourth codes, but it's like the other three aren't there. Am I missing something?

EDIT: OK, I found them. Don't try to browse through their site; just use their search function. It's super easy that way.

I agree that this year's three star badges can be real head scratchers. However, I'm also working on some older badges and the 2014 Cryptoid Cryptography - whoa Nelly - now those are hard!

For diamond's fourth clue, the item in the catalog contains a different lunch meat also ending in -i than the s----i that Google said was in the food item.

@lmworks - I know, right?? That badge series really was a stumper for me, I remember. In fact, I remember that back in 2014, I eventually ended up just giving up on the final badge in the series (after earning all the others, too - it was quite a let-down! :P), but then this year I went back and managed to earn it anyway.
Well, good luck! ;)

- FAVORITE496

ERROR ALERT! The Black Woods Pond badge clues contains a serious error that will send you far in the wrong direction.

Incorrection portion: "Next you will come to post #8 (for sure! The gamemaker’s camera worked) and again follow the red arrow left. You are getting closer to the pond now! You will pass post #7 with a single black arrow on it - keep going."

It SHOULD say: When you come to post #8, turn RIGHT. That will lead you to post #7....

@camelsamba

I know exactly what you mean. It took me forever to figure out that clue. Always glad to help!

Can anyone help with the last code for Perfect Murder? I'm pretty sure I have the two words I need to search (from Wikipedia and it fits the hint as well), but searching those words in the catalog gives only one result, and there is no code in that item.

I'm having trouble getting the 2nd code of the Ann Arbor Votes badge. I know the name of the resource, but when I type it as my code, it says the code isn't recognized. Any suggestions?

blackwater badge is SUPER confusing :( we got lost trying to follow the directions, and I'm p sure we weren't the only ones feeling this way because we bumped into a couple other gameplayers who also got lost :/

I am also having trouble finding the the third code of The Perfect Murder badge. Any hints? Thanks!

Any hints for the 2nd clue of the AAATA Ride web search badge? I've put in the name of the pass several different ways and none are right. WELL446

I came on to post the same error alert as doctorfang for the Black Pond Woods badge. We did figure it out but not before heading in the wrong direction for quite a while.

FYI - Several of the codes for the Catch the Ride badge are not right at the bus stop (at least as of Sunday they weren't). Traverwood had theirs inside (in a window where you can view the bus stop) and Mallets Creek has theirs right outside the building. Pittsfield's is outside near the bus stop. I haven't tried the others yet.

obrien1988 - I ended up using the site map on theride site a lot to get the codes there. They are all in a special section marked with the badge image, not buried in the text or anything, so the challenge is finding the right section on the site.

My mom had a plastic covered couch for many years. Her name is not Gertrude, however.
TBB

Sharmas - the third code for Perfect Murder is on a item originally in theaters in the 1980s starring Billy C------ and Danny D-----. It's got an item related to rails in the title. I recognized the movie from the clue, though, so only needed to look up the exact title.

SBNB - There were two game codes on the item for clue #4 when I just did the Perfect Murder badge, and entering both finished the badge for me.

I think the last code for The Perfect Murder badge ended up on the same item as the second to last code.

@shamus. The four words...no spaces, top left of website. Good luck. Spelling?
TBB

Hey All, thanks for all the feedback; for Search The Ride you won't have to come up with any codes on your own; they'll all be in boxes on the right side of the page including an image of the badge when you find the right page. As others have said, the search is very helpful; hence the name!

This is so fun! I love earning badges with me and my kids! Also, you learn lots of good facts!

@doctorfang & @jmoc k Hello all! So very sorry for the confusion on the Black Pond Woods badge - seeing that it had been earned 10 times I thought all was well - so thanks for the comments and sorry for the confusion! I'm updating the badge right now with the correction to turn right. Thanks for the help! The badge is CORRECT now! Thanks for playing!

@bituck and @KJRULEZ

Thanks! When I saw 2 codes on one item, I assumed one was for an earlier badge. It didn't even occur to me that they would both be for the same badge.

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working on two badges and I am hoping that some of you gamer's out there can help me by giving me some more clues as to where I can find the code words.
1) Catch a ride: I was out at the West Branch area and I searched for the code word to no avail I know there at least two stops near the building and I still could not find the code word.

2) Diamonds Gone Forever: I am working on finding the third code word and I have googled up what I think is the anwser and I went to plug the anwser into the catalouge and it gave me thousands of items to sarch through. I am hoping that some you gamers out there can help me with some more clues as to help me find both code words I am looking for.
Thanks for the help
Lmd3577

I have been downtown twice now for the first power art clue. The two word sign and name of tree is not recognized, and I can't go on to the next two clues while I'm downtown as that clue is not recognized. PLEASE give each power box clue separately so those of us who do not have smart phones can get the clues all in one trip. PLEASE!

Agree about the questionable tagging. There are also some really ridiculous reviews, especially from several years back, that really need to go.

Keep going with the cryptography badge! It is a ton of fun!

@Sara - ditto on the art boxes thing - It would be nice if it was like the other Explorer badges, so folks can write / print out all the clues at once. I was playing the game today (went with a friend who was playing Pokemon Go - and we ran into plenty of people playing both of these games!) and I saw one player who probably couldn't have gotten to the second art box if she hadn't run into me, since I have a smart-phone. One thing I really like about this game, versus Pokemon Go, is that it doesn't require lots of technology.

My friend and I went on a major code hunting spree today to catch up on our exploration badges. Nothing gets us to exercise as effectively as the thought of those sweet, sweet points.

Field Lines is darn near impossible. I was there today (again!) and even with the more detailed clue, I still couldn't find it. I encountered a family of 4 of varying heights who were also looking, and they were similarly frustrated. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE! Eli, have you checked lately? Maybe all the charmanders in the park have eaten (or maybe licked?) off the tiny letters! :^)

If someone from the family that was looking today (Sunday the 31st, 12:30 ish?) reads this, let me know whether you had success or left frustrated.

Also would like a way to reply just to one person to help them out, instead of answering the whole thread. Also having trouble finding the last code on the Ride.org website. :(

@Xris - Go to the Schedule section, scroll way down, and there will be a link to point you in the right direction.

Hope that helps. :)

@keebs23 - Wow, "avocado"?! That's some truly random tagging indeed.

They better be the best darn avocados!

(Yeah, a Daredevil joke was what immediately came to my mind. I am a huge dork. Beware of sleep-deprived geeks.)

@Eli GM - On mobile, the page format means that The Ride website badges aren't shown to the side, but can be found scrolling down, just FYI.

`I need help with the last code in hiding and seeking I think it is *******n Gym I couldnt find it there could someone help please

For the West branch, the code is in the bus shelter at the stop on the street to the North of the branch. You have to go into the shelter to read the sign.

@sara @nemiller and others trying to get PowerArt badges... when you're on the badge page, if you click on each hint where it says (click for hint), it will display the hint. You can click every hint, then print the page like this and take it with you. You then should have enough info to get all the PowerArt codes. The Power to the Art badge, I was able to get all the codes without actually going to the location by reading these hints beforehand.

I clearly haven't been active enough on these message boards this year as I haven't even gotten to 50 comments yet. Usually I comment enough to get all the comment badges.

I had no trouble with the Black Pond badge as written. I printed out the map, too.

I even saw a deer this morning and pointed it out to a group of young folks.
TBB

@AprilCDB- I feel the same. I usually comment a lot, but I've been so busy this year, that I haven't posted a lot.

On another note, I am having trouble with the 2nd code of the Ann Arbor Votes badge and the 3rd code for the Moons of Jupiter badge. I have tried everything possible for both, but I have not found the code yet. Any hints?

So no one else had problems with the last code in the Hitchcock badge? I eventually found it (with a friend's help, thank you Eileen C.!), but *not* by using the clues at all, just by searching for the movie the clues referred to. The clues - a university and the villain's last name - netted us nothing. Couldn't even figure out how we were supposed to find it after we found it!

@sdunav

I had problems with it too. I only found it because someone here pointed me in the right direction.

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working on two badges right now and I need help finding the code words.
1) Catch the Ride. I was out at the west branch of the libabry and I was looking for the code word for that bus stop and I looked at the ones closest to the libabry to no avail.

2) Diamonds are gone forever badge: I need help finding the third code word. I have googled what I think the anwser is and I pluged it into the catalouge and I get thousands of anwsers to search through and I still can't find the third code word.

I am hoping that some of you gamer's out there can help me with some more clues to help me find these code words.
Thanks for the help
Lmd3577

@Lmd3577 did you search for Masterpiece Mystery for the 3rd Diamond question? I always try to Look closely and/or Search for the Capitalized words in the Clues.

@ Lmd3577

If you look at the last sentence in the clue for Diamonds #3, two words are capitalized. Search those.

I'm completely stumped on the perfect murder code 3. Bituck's clue didn't really help :( anyone have different advice?

lmd3577 thanks for the tips on the Ride badge. For Westgate look inside the kiosk/shelter style bus stop on Jackson Rd. down by Rite Aid

@lbootzin

The movie you're looking for in Perfect Murder #3 has Billy Crystal. The last sentence in the clue has a couple key words that can help guide you to the right one.

Moons of Jupiter

I don't see a question for the third clue: "Galileo's expectation was that Jupiter, which was then in this apparent motion (yep, that was your next clue),"

What am I looking for? It wasn't "apparent motion."

@SBNB- Although I might not have been the one to ask for help on the 3rd code for the Perfect Murder badge, that last clue you gave was helpful. Thanks so much!
Also, for the 4th code, it says to find the character's number. I found the character, but what does it mean by "find this character's number"?

@sara- I'm struggling with that as well. I'm trying to find out what the "apparent motion" is, but I'm not getting anything.

@sharmas

You know, I never understood that part of the clue (clue 4 for Perfect Murder) until you mentioned it again now. It is referring to the movie title, I believe.

@sara @sharmas

For the third code of Moons of Jupiter, the word you need to search in the catalog starts with "R". If you type that key phrase into google and then type an "R", it should give you what you're looking for (in the suggested searches that pop up below what you typed but before you actually search). It took me FOREVER to get that code.

Help again. Diamonds gone forever code 2. I search d****** B****** and got 9 results and none had the code. What am I missing?

@lbootzin

For Diamonds code 2, I'm not sure what the d----- B----- words are that you're referring to. The person you need (because you need the person not the city) is from an Agatha Christie novel. And the title of the catalog item has the words l--- and t---- from the last sentence of the clue.

@ SBNB I failed at counting stars when I tried to type detective. And B was for the country since that seemed like the key part of the clue... But I got it with you help, so thanks.

For AATA badge codes, look for the code in a box one the side of the website page, not in the information. (I spent a lot of time trying the different pass names until I saw this!)

Thanks for the bonus clue in Hiding and Seeking.
I don't know anything about Pokey-stuff- so this was fun!

For those working on the Hiding and Seaking Pokémon Bonus clue, this one stumped me for a day. I had to take a break and go back the next morning. The Pokémon are all hidden in the clues. Without giving too much away, look for words that don't belong. The first clue is actually in the title of the badge. Good luck

@SBNB

Thank you so much for your help with the Jupiter Badge! I would not have finished it if it were not for you. Even with your help, I didn't find the word in a Google search, but on Wikipedia. I love learning new things playing the summer game, but that "clue" was ridiculous.

I was trying to complete the "Count on the County" badge today, but there was no code in the window. I asked in the County Clerk's office and they said they had had a sheet of paper with a code, but they didn't know where it was. Did I miss something, or should I contact the library and let them know that a code has gotten itself lost?

Thanks!

@ Zeckimom The code is definitely up in a window on Ann Street, second window from the door. If you do a 'contact us' we'll send the code to you so you don't have to make the trip again. Thanks for playing!

All these questions for help with badges and I haven't even started last weeks badges yet. In some regards that's a good thing, because if I get stumped someone else usually has too and has already asked for help and I can check all these messages to help me. But it does make me anxious that I feel like I'm behind now too. Most of the explorer badges haven't been done yet either, but since most are downtown, I'm planning on doing a "Downtown Day" and pretty much getting all those in one day. Man... looking at the calendar, I guess I better figure out when that's going to be as my weekends are all rather busy in August this year.

@AprilCDB - Trust me, I can relate! I've gotten all the Web Search badges, I believe, but almost none of the Explorer badges, and I'm not sure whether I'll even be able to get most of those in this year anyway, unfortunately.
My advice would be not to worry overly much about it. After all, there's no law that states you have to win EVERY SINGLE BADGES IMMEDIATELY THE MOMENT IT'S RELEASED (although admittedly it does feel like it at times!). So you shouldn't need to feel too anxious about it, as I think the point of the game is supposed to be for the players to have fun, not to stress out.
But yes, I can definitely relate to the feeling of being "behind". ;)

- FAVORITE496

Are the explorer badges from last year still active? I tried the Gallup River Art one a couple weeks ago, but it said the codes were expired.

@AprilCDB @yaldah

I feel the same!. I haven't even finished all of the web search badges! And don't even mention the explorer badges!! This year I just haven't had time to badges sadly, but I will try my best to do as many explorer badges as I can this weekend. I also feel as if I have to finish the badges right when they come out (thankfully we don't, but just as @yaldah mentioned, you feel pressured to do so).

I went to Traverwood today and asked a librarian where their banner was since I hadn't seen it when I walked in. She said you have to stand in the street to see it!

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working on two badges right now and I need help finding the code words for both.
1) The Perfect Murder: I need help finding the third code word

2) Moons of Jupiter: I need help finding the very first code word.

I have googled up the anwsers to both and I went to plug them into the catalouge and I get thousands of anwsers to search through to no avail.
I am hoping some of you gamer's out there can help me with some more clues as to where I can find the code words.

Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

@lmd3577

For the first code in the jupiter moon badge, look on the Galilean moons wikipedia page

I am still having difficulties with the 3rd code of the Moons of Jupiter badge, and the 4th code of the Perfect Murder badge. Any more hints?

@sharmas

Moons of Jupiter: The hint says, "... which was then in this apparent motion (yep, that was your next clue)...". The word you need to search is part of a three word phrase that also uses that clue, apparent *something* motion.

Perfect Murder: The hint says, "Find this character's number and let your fingers do the walking...". "Number" like a phone number, and "let your fingers do the walking" was the slogan for the Yellow Pages telephone book. Back when Hitchcock was making movies, rotary style phones were prevalent. These kind of phones have a distinctive differing feature from today's landline phones. Put all this together and they'll point you to the title of the film.

Heh, I think it took me more time to type up those hints than it did to find those codes in the first place! :D

@keebs23

Thank you so much!! I got both badges. I felt like screaming after getting the 4th code of the Perfect Murder badge because I knew the name of the movie from the start, but didn't know that I had to search that in the catalog. I could have finished that badge a long time ago :(

P.S. Sorry to hear that you spent longer on helping me with hints than finding the actual codes themselves. Didn't mean for that to happen :(

@sharmas

Don't :( at all! I was just commenting that talking around something to avoid saying it is often more work than the thing you are talking about.

The frustrating part is sometimes the code is exactly the words you are searching the catalog with. You just have to find the entry to confirm it.

@camelsamba people are still earning the badge each day! I will check on the code this week to make sure it's still there. The skyline's for the farsighted, but the code's in nearsighted territory.

I'm loving the "lines" explorations badges that require us to find a viewing point where certain landmarks line up. However, these badges should be worth MANY more points! They take a lot of time and effort, and even if you find the right spot, the code itself iis sometimes quite hard to find (ahem, Field Lines). I suggest that these badges be worth as much as a branch banner code -- 1000 points. They are SO much harder to find than the branch banners.

More comparison regarding the point values of the "lines" explorations badges:

The Hines Quest badges are worth 500 points each, and the clue tells you exactly where to find them. Compare this to the "Field Lines" badge, which was quite an ordeal to locate and then find the code, for a measly 100 points. I'm loving the "lines" badges, but the point value is way out of line relative to other badges and the time/effort that is involved.

Here's a tip for anyone seeking the "Sight Lines" badge. Do it on Sunday, when you have free access to the parking structure in which the code is found. The structure is relatively empty on Sundays, too, which will make code-hunting much easier. Enjoy!

The Jupiter badges don't seem to be as well written as most of the others.

For the first clue in the Moons of Jupiter badge, what you have to enter in the catalog isn't even a full match to any item. That really feels wrong.

And like others have said, I also found it very unclear what some of the questions even were, or whether they were meant to be searched in the catalog or entered as a code, though generally the rule seems to be it's a catalog search unless specifically indicated to be entered as a code.

(There were also at least a couple of typos in the Moons of Jupiter clues. Nothing that turned out to matter, but an additional cause for lack of confidence in the writing.)

This is frustrating in ways that other "difficult" badges haven't been.

@sara, I didn't have to stand in the street to get the Traverwood banner code, but I did have to stand in their flower bed very close to the street to get it

OH! Good Reef! I literally just checked that book out for the 2nd code for my son by chance! Very cute book. The code was definitely NOT there last week when I starred, tagged and reviewed it!

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working on two badges right now and I need help find the third code word for both badges.

1) The Moons of Juipter: 3rd code word

2) The perfect Murder: 3rd code word

I have googled up what I think is the correct anwser to find the third code word but to no avil. I am hoping that some of you gamers out there can help me with some more clues as to where I can find the code words.
Thanks so much for the help

@Lmd3577

Have you looked through all the comments to see the other hints given? I and some others have given several hints for both of those codes. I don't know what else to say without telling you the answer directly.

IMO the Jupiter badge series clues are appropriate to the stated difficulty 3 level. For example, for the first Moons of Jupiter code, searching the right title in the catalog doesn't get you a perfect match to all terms BUT it does get you just one result, which has the code, so it didn't take much catalog exploration. Determining the right thing to search was the mind exercise.

I'm eagerly anticipating a difficulty 4 badge!

Sight Lines was so fun to share with our family! We've only lived here 7 months and it was pretty neat to see so much of the city we're happy to call home!

There have been a few instances of where the answer is not within the Top 10 results this year, the ones I've gotten that were not in Top 10 were within Top 15 results though. So if you feel like you have to correct answer and aren't finding it in Top 10, try checking a few more items.

I'm relisting my family's friend codes because I noticed that there are many we've entered of other people's who haven't "friended" us yet.

From 2015:
BEGIN776
FOUND376
TRUST474

From 2016:
SOMEHOW363

Thanks!

@keebs - For the Moons of Jupiter first clue results, I got much more than one result, IIRC. I do remember another "no matches" result that returned only 1 item, though, and I might be mixing them up. (And I may have somehow had the search slightly off but still found the code in the multiple results.)

Any help with The Perfect Murder third clue? I have the other four.

@ AprilCDB - Thanks for the new code. I added it, so I can now be added for the bonus. :)

So many badges downtown will have to spend a day searching for codes when I get back from vacation.

Thank you all so much for the discussion of the codes here. I never would have solved the Moons of Jupiter without the help!

AND it wasn't clear sometimes for the Moons of Jupiter whether you enter the words as a code or use the words to search the catalog. Try both, folks.

I'm enjoying catching up on Arbor Explorer. Even in the heat I enjoyed walking near Wheeler Park for the Kerrytown Circuit badge.

I got one of the sportsacks, and I think it will work well on the back of my wheelchair, as I'd hoped. Yay!

@Thomas B Brown

The code is attached to a movie that is inspired by a Hitchcock movie based on a Patricia Highsmith novel.

i really like how much people assist each other in ways that don't just automatically give away the answer!

@dree411 - Yes, it is Friday! The new badge drops usually occur at approximately 6 PM, although it's not uncommon to have to wait a bit longer for the staff to have the drop ready for posting.
Just about seven more hours to wait! ;)

There have been multiple cases where the clue asks you to search for a person in the catalogue. If you put their whole name, the item doesn't pop up on the list or it's very far down. If only the last name is needed, that should be specified in the clue. The most recent example is clue 5 for moons of Jupiter where it didn't even show up with the full name.

@dree411

Yes, in fact it is Friday.

I didn't get a notification last Friday or today yet about my gameshop order. Is it normal that it would take three Fridays to fill it?

I agree wholeheartedly on upping the points on the "line" badges. Those take a lot of effort and honestly, I don't pay attention to how much things are worth usually. But seeing how little it is makes me not so motivated to drive, find a place to park and then figure out where in the world I'm going.

That being said - I LOVE the arbor explorer badges!

Love the new AATA badges. We're a one car family and ride the bus all the time.

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working on the Moons of Juipter badge and I know I have found the correct final anwser for the badge but I need help flitering the badge some. I have placed in the correct name bue I come up with thousands of anwsers to sort thruogh. I am wondering if I am looking for a book, magazine, video, music or so on. I am hoping that some of you gamers out there can help me out with a few more clues to help me filter the anwersr some.
Thanks so much for the help

@STAR473, thanks... it's up to my player to enter the codes. I'll remind her to watch for codes on the people who are adding her.

@Fevvers thanks for the wheelchair tip. I have a wheelchair too that I use occasionally and we've been talking about needing something to help us carry some stuff when we go to FL this fall. I'll keep the bag in mind when we start experimenting.

@Zekicmom, what are the user names for SHOOK737 & BEGIN776? I'm keeping a list of codes that I've input and I've entered these but don't know who they belong to.

Also, the owner of SOMEHOW363 hasn't entered my code: KNEW476. I also have PERFECT966, but that one's not keeping track of all the codes, so that one I don't know if it's been entered or not.

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working the Moons of juipter badge and I need help find the fith and final code word for that badge. I have googled up the correct anwser and when I go plugh it into the catalouge I get thousands of anwsers to search through. I am hoping that some of you gamer's out there can help me out with some more clues as to where I can find the final code word.
Thanks so much

@lmd3577
Just put in the person's last name into the catalogue. It should be the top hit.

For you Line it Up fans, we will be making those their own series with their own master badge, and well, it will be worth your while if you complete all 4 line it up badges....

@ Ibootzin

Totally agee on the issue of needing to specify last name only versus full names of people in clues. And when sometimes people have more than two "names" in their full/known by names, it is even more necessary.

(That Jupiter badge has a lot of clues that I disliked for one reason or another.)

I see that 507 people have spotted the ride, but I cannot. I have been down to Blake 4 times, rode several buses yesterday along several routes grabbing codes and looking for the buses with the codes on the side, and I live along a route that I look at daily. I am looking every time I go anywhere. I cannot see it. I've recruited my family to help... nothing! Any hints or tips on how I can spot this? It's on the driver's side, correct?

My son and I had fun looking for the Power Art codes. Thanks for the idea of getting an ice cream from Washtenaw Dairy.

The next time we go downtown, though, we need to make sure there isn't an international soccer game!

I, too, have not spotted a bus code although i have seen many busses. I will keep looking, and hopefully see one soon. Still dont know if the busses stay on one route or are mixed around.

For the Sight Lines badge, can someone confirm that the parking structure I need to be on top of is the one west of Main?

It's a shame I don't have more time to spend in downtown! I finally saw a bus with a game code on my way to work in the morning. I'll definitely try to go out more on the weekends. That and downtown is perfect for Pokemon Go!

Eli, I *finally* got Field Lines. Although I do believe I had to take a step or 2 to the right after finding the spot where the sliver of sky disappeared between the buildings :^) [then again, the buildings aren't labelled so maybe i was disappearing the wrong sliver??]

to those looking for the code on the buses, the one's I've seen were on the driver's side of the bus, but someone said they saw one on the door side. Maybe hang out at the Ypsi transit center instead of the Blake transit center, as both buses that I saw (different routes) go to the Ypsi transit center (they also go to Blake, but since Ypsi is smaller and has less buses, perhaps you'll have a better chance of seeing a bus with the code).

"Traveling to your Aunt Gertrude's house for dignity-crushing cheek-pinches. And we're sure lots of you have been traveling around your neighborhood and walking into walls and falling off of docks playing a certain game that rhymes with Frokemon Shmo." I love the humor used in this game :D

We went and did black pond woods yesterday (and almost melted). Somehow we took a wrong turn and went the really long way to the bridge.... not sure how that happened when I followed directions (at least I thought I did). It was still fun and the kids caught some pokemon :)

@Drake Emmitt, the directions say they're gonna take you the long way to the pond. That was bad enough. I'd hate to know what the REALLY long way is. I should have read the directions more carefully before hand too... if I had, I would have adjusted and take the more direct route and my feet and ankles are pretty bad and I'm currently under going treatment to try and fix things.

I'm behind on badges as I've been out of town a couple times this summer. I have to give a HUGE shout-out to the Summer Game Team though for the "Diamonds Gone Forever" badge. When I saw we were doing badges on thieves, I had hoped we'd have one about this diamond heist! :) :) I was super excited when I saw it. I read the book about it several years ago (http://www.aadl.org/catalog/record/1354244) and just loved it. It's still one of my favorite non-fiction books. :) So thank you, Summer Game Team for including the Antwerp Diamond Heist in the badges. :) :)

I love the Summer Game. I love how it brings people together as a community. We give each other hints on badges, without giving away the answer since that takes the fun out of it. We share what's hard and what's not. It's great. :)

I haven't posted my friend code in a while so if you don't have it yet - it's STEP967.

@jduffy12, my selfie never got acknowledged - is that the challenge you mention? (but then again, I used a 'selfie' of a Drowzee (Pokemon GO) rather than myself so maybe that's why i never got the code - BUT HOW DO THEY KNOW I DON"T LOOK LIKE THAT?? :^)
